When we get out in the wild on our bikes only we need to be as light as possible. All extra weight will be taken out on our speed and reach. We need to pack light to travel far.
Every year I do a small biking trip at the beginning of the summer to get a head start on the biking season and this time the Swedish island Gotland was up for a ride. Our goal was to take on the west and east coast of the island in three days. The core of the trip is of course to be biking and camping, but we also wanted to squeeze in some vacation feelings by taking a swim or two in the ocean.
The trip in itself is not the only fun part, the days before we went were almost as fun. To plan the route and most importantly to plan what to pack. When packing for a short bike and camping trip these are our must-have essentials:
- Multifunctional clothing that dries fast and can be used every day on the road (clothes with pockets to always have my cell and cards with me)
- A small travel bag with your toothbrush, toothpaste, and SPF (pro tip, use your Eivy travel bag that is included when buying top or tights)
- Hammock or tent, with sleeping bags, liners, and sleeping mats
- Extra tires, multi-tool, and a pump
- Protective sunglasses to avoid a potential flee invasion in your eyes
- Travel towel that packs small and dries fast
- Big water bottles to fill up on the go
- Chafing patches
- Toilet paper
- Storm kitchen with a mug and a spork
- Solar-powered power banks for your electronics
- Biking bags of your choice to store the stuff without having to carry a backpack
And you are pretty much covered for a few days on the road! Note that we needed to bring some extras since we had the doggo with us, but it was still no problem to fit in the biking bags since we managed to pack very small and light thanks to the Eivy products we brought.
